Medical Secretary - Trauma and Orthopaedics

We are looking for an experienced medical secretary to join the busy Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at Colchester Hospital.
You should have excellent communication skills, administrative and organisational skills, and be able to produce accurate audio typing and reports while effectively responding to ad hoc queries and deadlines.

Main duties of the job
* Audio typing of clinic letters using the digital dictation system and reports using Microsoft Word within agreed timescales. In the absence of the Consultant, ensuring these letters are sent out to reach the correct destination within agreed timescales.
* Responsible for the co-ordination of the administrative functions relating to the admission of patients into the hospital, ensuring waiting lists are up to date and theatre lists are fully utilised.
* Add patients to the relevant in-patient and day-case waiting lists on the Patient Administration System; planning and maintaining the waiting list in accordance with the Patient Access Policy and Trust procedures.
* Management and validation of patients' 18-week Referral to Treatment pathways, working closely with the Operations Coordinator and validation team.

* Experience of working with members of the public
