Deputy Nursery Manager
Our Client is looking to employ an experienced Deputy Nursery Manager for their high-quality nursery near Barnet, London. The successful candidate will support the Nursery Manager in providing professional leadership and management of the nursery and its staff, as well as in the successful management of the day-to-day running of the nursery. The role involves delivering high-quality standards of care and education for all children, identifying and supporting children with SEN (Special Educational Needs) or disabilities, and promoting equality of opportunity for all children in the nursery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Promote a high standard of quality within the nursery, including practice, environment, and resources to meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
2. Support the Nursery Manager in ensuring effective leadership and management of the nursery, ensuring a high standard of performance that supports a smooth-running and collaborative nursery environment. Manage the nursery in the absence of the Manager.
3. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance by all staff.
4. Provide leadership and support to all staff to enable them to establish and maintain professional positive working relationships with colleagues, parents, and carers.
5. Ensure appropriate planning and assessment is in place and accurately maintained by all staff.
6. Support the development of good practice in relation to special educational needs and inclusion.
7. Undertake the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring all staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities toward safeguarding, keeping all children safe, and ensuring staff are confident in following safeguarding procedures.
8. Implement and support others in delivering the EYFS in line with current practice and guidelines.
9. Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures and support the Nursery Manager in ensuring all staff receive health and safety training.
10. Support the Nursery Manager in ensuring the nursery remains compliant with suitably trained and vetted staff with relevant qualifications.
11. Assist in managing capacity and occupancy levels, follow up on all enquiries for childcare places, including booking parents' tours around the nursery.
12. Attend all out-of-hours activities: staff meetings, manager meetings, training, parents' evenings, and nursery events.
13. Act as a keyholder for the nursery.
Essential Requirements
1. Minimum Level 3 Childcare Qualification.
2. SENCO training and experience.
3. Demonstrable experience in organizing the smooth running of a nursery with over 55 places.
4. Excellent working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and current Ofsted statutory guidance.
5. At least one year's recent relevant experience as a Deputy Nursery Manager.
