Helping homeless households find their way back to security.
The challenge
Homelessness can happen to anyone – and in Birmingham it’s happening to more and more people. It can lead individuals and families into a cycle that can have a profound effect on all aspects of life, from physical and mental wellbeing to sustainable employment. That’s why the Council has a homelessness strategy that cuts across different services and agencies. We’re focused on preventing people from becoming homeless but, if they do, we aim to intervene as early as possible to limit the impact of homelessness, help people recover and make them more resilient in the future.
About you
Personal strengths and values are more important than past experience, as we offer full training and plenty of support. We look for compassionate, empathic people with good communication skills. Happy dealing with a diverse range of people, including some with vulnerabilities and multiple complex needs, you’ll know how to build trust and rapport. You’ll be good at solving problems and finding practical solutions. Motivated to work with homeless families, willingness to learn and attention to detail as well as IT Skills, ability to interrogate a database and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word.
If you’re passionate about making a difference for households who are homeless, we’d like to hear from you.
