Salary: The expected salary for this role is up to £60,000
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Centric Thinking
o Aligns activities within the domain to overall Data Governance roadmap
o Support the Data Maturity Assessment process
o Collaborate with the business to support creation of relevant metadata in the Partnership’s metadata repository, providing ongoing management and coordinating business approval
o Verify and approve that the correct data classification has been applied to data sets
o Manage the content and gain approval for the Business Assets in their Data Domain in the metadata repository.
o Drive adherence to, and be a subject matter expert on the Partnership’s Data Management Policy and Standards and for Domain Standards; undertake periodic Policy and Standards Assurance
2. Stakeholder Management
o Develop and maintain effective relationships with peers, stakeholders, and the wider business to ensure engagement, support, and delivery of key responsibilities.
o Responsible for coordinating and running regular and effective Data Governance working groups at a domain level.
o Manage key Data Governance communication vehicles & support the delivery of key and consistent Data Governance messaging for all stakeholders.
o Support the DG lead and DGMs in the creation of outcome led agendas for meetings relating to the Data Governance Forum and Partnership Data Group and where appropriate record the meeting minutes and actions.
o Support the Data Owner by maintaining and supporting materials required for them to carry out their responsibilities
3. Data Quality
o Work across the Data Management Profession to ensure data quality standards are adhered to and work directly with the business to address any issues, including in projects and change initiatives.
o Co-ordinate the prioritisation of proactive data quality profiling activity within the domain
o Co-ordinate the identification, recording, analysis, and remediation of data quality issues and overall sustainability of data quality
4. Process & Reporting
o Identification and documentation of key processes that impact data in their Data Domain.
o Drive the development and continuous improvement of the data governance operating model
o Monitor performance against Data Governance KPIs in Tableau; create recommendations for remediation and actively celebrate successes.
o Ensure that all required reporting and inputs for governance groups are prepared and agreed with stakeholders.
5. Risk, Issues & Controls Management
o Support the business & key stakeholders in identification, management & resolution of data risks (including personal data)
o Work within a data domain as a point of contact for the business on data issues and data risk management
o Promote data risk awareness, including GDPR, within their subject area
Skills
1. Risk, Issues & Control Management Skills in identifying, articulating, and mitigating risks and developing controls for ongoing management of risks
2. Stakeholder Management uses stakeholder management to develop trusted relationships with stakeholders and Data Owners.
3. Data-centric thinking understands data, legislation related to it, and how it is utilised in the business.
4. Investigative skills with a questioning nature which enables you to explore and understand challenges and issues against a big picture view of the Partnership
5. Attention to detail drives quality through attention to detail and being able to consume complex information.
Essential Skills/Experience You’ll Need
1. Understanding of data protection and information security legislation and how this relates to the business strategy.
2. Experience in complex and/or large data projects as a data SME
3. A good understanding of data quality approaches
4. Driving data quality improvements with Business teams
5. Stakeholder management
Desirable Skills/Experience You May Have
1. Retail, Finance, or Financial Services experience
2. Membership of Data Management groups/communities
3. Data Management qualification
4. GDPR Practitioner level or equivalent
5. Business analysis or project management experience
6. Knowledge of Data Management technologies and tools
7. Expertise in data quality practices, approaches, and challenges within large organisations
As a Data Steward in the Data Management Profession, you will work closely with areas of the business to drive data-centric thinking & decision-making through education & relationship building with key data owners, stakeholders & teams from across the business. You will act as the key point of contact for data quality incidents coordinating resolutions where appropriate. Aligning activities to the domain's key priorities & the overall data governance strategy. Leading the documentation of business assets in their area, gaining approval where necessary. Supports the business & key stakeholders in risk identification, management & resolution.
