We have a vacancy for a 3 month contract (initially) within Midlothian children and young peoples practice team. To complete longer term work with those aged 0-26.
As part of the Children and Young People’s Practice Team you will undertake a wide variety of work with children and young people from 0-26 years. Including pre-birth assessments, child protection and permanence planning. To undertake diversions from prosecution for young people and support continuing care and after care within children’s services. The job holder also needs to be able to demonstrate an understanding or experience of:
1. Legal frameworks and the Local Authority’s statutory responsibilities relevant to the service area
2. National and local practice, policy, procedure and legislation relevant to the post e.g. the Promise
3. Have knowledge and understanding of a range of systemic interventions and methodologies such as attachment, child development, systemic support, relationship-based approach, motivational interviewing techniques and the impact of trauma.

What we are looking for in a Qualified Social Worker:
8. Social Work England registration
9. Eligible to work in the UK
10. Hold a full UK license
11. Post-qualifying experience working with children and families
12. Child Welfare and Protection Certificate or demonstrate a commitment to work towards it
