We have a fantastic opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Clinical Education Team as a Clinical Practice Educator.
The hours will be worked over three days, to be agreed, with some flexibility required to cover for colleagues. You will be working across our three hospice sites in Coventry, Warwick and Rugby.
We are seeking a Registered Nurse with:
* Experience of palliative and end of life care
* Experience of formal teaching and supporting learners in a clinical setting, including assessing
* Advanced Communication Skills course (or willing to take this)
* Communication, team building, facilitation, IT, organisational and interpersonal skills
* Current NMC PIN
* The right to work in the UK (we cannot support with sponsorship)
This role will require an enhanced DBS check including the adults barred list because you will be instructing staff members in regulated activity with adults. Myton will cover the cost of this DBS check.
As this role requires travel between our hospice sites and to external venues, you must be able to travel within Coventry and Warwickshire (preferably with a UK driving licence and your own vehicle).
Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Practice Educator, you'll support the delivery of both in-house and external training programmes for a range of staff at all levels across health and social care.
The Clinical Practice Educator role promotes high quality, holistic, person-centered palliative and end of life care, by developing the skills and knowledge of our staff members and external partners.

Role Purpose
The Clinical Practice Educator will have day-to-day responsibility for the delivery of clinically based learning and development, and will support the Clinical Education Lead with the delivery of the in-house and external education programmes.
The key areas of this role involve working alongside nursing staff across all of Myton's clinical departments, to develop and enhance their clinical skills and palliative approach. The Clinical Practice Educator will work clinically alongside new members of the nursing team during their induction period.
If required, the post holder will be trained to support the delivery of mandatory Basic Life Support and Patient Moving and Handling training.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
* To promote high quality, holistic, person-centred end of life care by identifying and developing the skills and knowledge required for the Nursing and Allied Health Professionals within the Inpatient Units (IPUs), Well-being and Myton at Home services
* Work clinically alongside members of the nursing team within the inpatient units (IPUs) Myton at Home and well-being services to support needs as identified by line managers
* Provide practical education and training, including assessing clinical nursing competencies
* Act as a role model to demonstrate high quality and safe patient care
* Directly supervise/support the induction of nurses new in post to ensure they have appropriate learning opportunities, including support and guidance with electronic patient records
* Support the lead mandatory trainer in delivering Adult and Paediatric Basic Life Support and AED training to all clinical staff and provide advice as required
* Support the lead mandatory trainer in delivering Patient Moving and Handling training to all clinical staff and provide advice as required
* Inspire and influence the professional growth of Myton's clinical workforce
* Provide support and guidance to new members of the nursing team with electronic patient records and forms
* Keep accurate records of training delivered and achievement of competencies
* Support and encourage link nurses to fulfil their role
* Promote an environment whereby succession planning becomes integral to the way we work
* Support the Research Nurse in implementing research-based learning into practice, and encouraging a culture of inquiry and research awareness
* With support from the Clinical Education Lead, design and deliver the in-house education programme in collaboration with Clinical Practice Educator colleague
* Support the Clinical Education Lead to deliver education and training programmes to external organisations
* Undertake relevant activities to maintain own clinical competency
* Maintain awareness of current developments in end of life care, and apply them appropriately
Quality, Safety & Governance
* Support the Clinical Governance and Quality Lead with implementation of the annual audit programme
* Ensure that documentation is completed accurately and legibly in accordance with NMC guidance, the organisations information governance guidance and confidentiality is maintained using Caldecott Guidelines.
* Create and maintain a culture where the reporting of concerns, incidents and complaints are encouraged and documented promptly, ensuring that clinical adverse events, incidents and complaints are fully investigated and shared learning is undertaken
* Maintain detailed and accurate records including collecting, collating and reporting on data to ensure high quality service delivery and ongoing service development in line with local and national initiatives.

* Be responsible for own continued professional development, maintaining up to date evidence-based knowledge, including an awareness of the national and local influences affecting palliative and end of life care.
