Job Description Manufacturing Engineer - Technology Full Time Derby What you will be doing We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our engaging team in Derby as a Manufacturing Engineer – Technology. You will be delivering manufacturing technology and/or capability acquisition projects. Working with Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leaders (MECLs) or the equivalent, and Manufacturing Process Owners (MPOs) to ensure that technology solutions are aligned to existing strategies. Responsibilities: You will be ensuring that manufacturing processes are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme. Also, that manufacturing processes are capable of achieving and sustaining the design definition and responsible for mitigating against process deviation, you will also : Ensure that manufacturing processes are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme. Product Safety - Ensure that manufacturing processes are capable of achieving and sustaining the design definition and responsible for mitigating against process deviation. Operate a culture of zero defects within the organisation. Works with all functions to reduce risk and drive product Right First Time. Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards including RRMS, SABRe and Export Control and Intellectual Property requirements. Identify and develop opportunities for improvements and innovations in manufacturing capability, with a view to improving productivity through application of standardised approaches and the deployment of new technology. Plan and manage activities including schedule, resources and costs, gaining buy-off and communicating current status to relevant stakeholders. Ensure issues and risks are resolved to meet project timescales. Support the development of the technology roadmaps and process strategies, Develop, implement, validate, maintain and continuously improve capability, capital (equipment & tooling) and manufacturing technology which are capable of meeting and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time. Capture, analyse and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes. Create, Maintain and/or Govern elements of the Technical Package which clearly define the manufacturing process and control them effectively. Lead small IPTs and/or work closely with external bodies to deliver projects. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing - Work with interfacing teams, Global Process Owners and local experts to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes and digital systems are understood and accounted for as required. Identify, document and share best practice and support Community of Practice activities. Capture and utilise lessons learnt. Responsible for self development to meet the required competencies for the role. Provides coaching and technical support to others within their area of competence. Build external relationships - Operate beneficial relationships with partners and suppliers to enable delivery of their objectives. We are looking for a self-motivated, experienced Manufacturing engineer with a strong work ethic. They should be able to work both individually and as part of or leading small cross functional teams. The candidate should strive for the highest quality and standardisation and be able to analyse manufacturing and process data in order to inform decisions and make recommendations. A strategic, forward thinking individual is sought that will embrace challenges and strive to do the right thing for the business. Professionally qualified Engineer (UK minimum BEng degree or other national equivalent, higher degree preferred). UK CEng (Chartered Engineer) or other national equivalent relevant to specialist subject area. Typically a member of relevant professional body/institute at Fellow level (or equivalent). General machining experience and proven ability to influence key decisions is welcomed but a deep understanding of a specialist subject would be advantageous and in particular, experience of HSEDM, EDM, Grinding, Milling Plasma Welding and/or LASER processes, especially when this experience is in the machining of Super Nickle alloys. A good understanding of a range of inspection methods and have experience assessing the capability of manufacturing processes as well as experience in maintaining and controlling production processes.
