South Tyneside Health Collaboration manages two general practices, one in the beautiful coastal village of Whitburn and another, a developing training practice in central Jarrow, with a combined list size circa 8,500.
We host 3 PCNs within South Tyneside as well as deliver several primary care services such as mental health, spirometry, Covid Vaccinations, Admiral Nursing service and Health and Wellbeing outreach.
Due to the expansion of patient services, we are looking for a salaried GP to work 4-8 sessions flexibly across the organisation. The successful candidate will be predominantly based within our practices, with the potential to develop their career into other areas within STHC. We can be flexible with the number of sessions and working days for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job
Duties and Responsibilities
As post holder you will be expected to support STHC in providing all services outlined in the GMS contract, including work outside of core hours (Enhanced Access).
You will be expected to support and input into areas of clinical governance, good practice, quality outcomes framework, enhanced services, practice audit, referral review and any other improvement plans as determined by the STHC Clinical director.
You are encouraged to utilise and develop skills for the improvement of services to patients, such as child health surveillance, family planning training or any other skills that would be required for services STHC wishes to sign up to. This will of course be subject to presentation of the appropriate qualifications.
You will be expected to maintain and keep good standards of computerised clinical records in line with GMC guidance. Full involvement in STHC training and ongoing maintenance of our status as a paperless practice is expected.
You should be competent to work as duty doctor as well as dealing with other daily enquiries coming your way. It is also expected that you may be involved in the monthly care home and practice MDT meetings. It is expected to be able to complete all work by the end of the working day, for example prescriptions, tasks, lab links and referrals.
You will be expected to maintain and keep good standards of documentation using EMIS.

As a salaried GP you will be mainly based within our STHC practices, however, you may be asked to do specific work for STHC as required; there will be exciting opportunities to develop and be involved with projects across South Tyneside.
The duties of the post are to provide a full range of general medical services as contained within the National Health Services (Primary Care) Act 1997 and which will include domiciliary visits as deemed appropriate. These visits must be triaged and only offered to genuinely housebound patients.
