The Role As a Deputy Children’s Home Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safety, and well-being for the young people in our care. This includes promoting a nurturing and structured environment that meets each child's individual needs and helps them to develop emotionally, socially, and educationally. You will be a strong leader, capable of supervising and developing staff, maintaining regulatory compliance, and actively contributing to a positive team culture. The role will involve regular sleep-ins as part of the rota and may include on-call responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Support the Registered Manager in the overall management and development of the home. Ensure the home complies with Ofsted regulations and meets all required standards of care. Lead shifts and provide supervision, guidance, and support to residential care workers. Assist with staff recruitment, training, appraisals, and performance management. Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, promoting their rights and well-being. Create and implement care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies. Monitor and support the emotional, physical, and educational development of each child. Maintain accurate records and ensure timely reporting in line with policies and procedures. Promote a safe, inclusive, and therapeutic environment for staff and residents alike. Take part in the on-call rota and complete sleep-ins as required. About You Essential: Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). At least 2 years' experience working in a residential childcare setting, with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role. Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and EBD. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins. A clear enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to undertake one. Desirable: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).
