This will ensure that we serve the whole of the UK and was the biggest change to the organisation’s structure in its history. A key part of this strategy is to attract and develop talent across the UK. 4Skills is our training and development initiative that brings together all our existing training schemes across C4. This on-going programme is focussed on finding and nurturing talent from the Nations and Regions with the aim of attracting people into broadcasting and production from diverse backgrounds. 4Skills will address skills gaps and also play a key role in progressing the careers of those already in the industry. JOB PURPOSE In this role you’ll play a key role in delivering some of our 4Skills projects, in particular our external-facing offer, covering initiatives to develop new writers, content development funding for production companies and supporting the career development of those already in the sector. You’ll help 4Skills to develop strong industry partnerships, develop the creative sector across the Nations and Regions and support people to grow in their careers. Reporting into our 4Skills Manager, you’ll focus on delivering a range of key 4Skills projects, such as 4Skills Accelerate, Content Development Partnerships, Content Creatives, Business Boost and our C4 New Writers Scheme. You’ll have, a real passion to make a difference and remove barriers for people to access careers in the industry, and a strong understanding of the TV production sector outside of London. You’ll use your project skills to support delivery across the 4Skills portfolio, working with the 4Skills team, colleagues across other parts of the business (such as Commissioning and Creative Diversity) and external organisations (such as training providers, ScreenSkills and regional Screen Agencies). The role is based at the National C4 HQ in Leeds and may require travel when running events in the nations and regions. Some evening and weekend work will be required occasionally for which you’ll be given time back in lieu. KEY RESPONSIBLITIES Support the overall 4Skills portfolio of work, contributing to the development, delivery and evaluation of the schemes. This includes working with the 4Skills Manager to ensure projects are delivering within timeframes, budget and team resources. Work closely with the rest of the 4Skills team in relation to the delivery of 4Skills projects. Lead the day-to-day relationships with relevant external delivery partners such as training providers to ensure successful delivery of 4Skills projects, Deliver relevant 4Skills projects, including UK wide schemes as well those with a focus on our regional offices in Leeds, Bristol and Glasgow. Be responsible for all or some of the different stages of these projects including Design, scoping and setting up a project so that it has clear outcomes and impact such as number of training roles created by a scheme, or specific skills that are gained. Delivery and implementation of projects - looking for new approaches so that we are more efficient or have more impact. Engaging with all relevant partners, stakeholders and suppliers to ensure that they deliver against the project plan and timetable, such as running recruitment, delivering workshops, or creating training assets. Monitoring progress of the project against key milestones, to ensure that it is on track and will deliver its overall aims. If not on track, take action to address or communicate to senior colleagues. Manage individual project budgets to ensure value for money and undertake financial processes such as invoicing, contracting etc. Undertake an evaluation at the end of each project to assess if it has delivered its objectives, report this information and share any learnings. Manage multiple relationships and collaborate with a wide variety of internal & external partners. Analyse and communicate 4Skills data to support individual projects and the overall 4Skills strategy. Research and understand skills challenges in the sector and develop solutions to address these. Seek out new ways to communicate the 4Skills programmes to people of all backgrounds, and build long-term engagement such as through our 4Skills alumni programme. Utilise the C4 project management framework and toolkit to ensure consistent and efficient delivery of 4Skills programmes across C4. Provide other ad hoc support relating to projects and planning as required. Ensure that Channel 4 values and diversity commitments are embedded in 4Skills projects are in line with the Channel 4 Diversity. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS Be energised by, and have experience of, inspiring people from different backgrounds about careers in the creative industries. Have experience of the TV Production sector and/or Broadcasting, and understand the roles involved in production. Have an understanding of the barriers facing companies and freelancers working across the Nations and Regions. Have experience of delivering projects, events and activities that support skills development. Experience of how training schemes and other programmes are delivered. Understand and be able to use social media to engage with people. Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly. Strong analytical skills, able to process and present information in a structured format and in a clear unambiguous way leading to recommendations about project delivery and evaluations. Have experience of coordinating a budget and running necessary financial processes such as raising invoices, recording payments etc. Ability to support and develop junior members of the team and provide direction on tasks where relevant. Keen to improve and develop existing approaches and learn from what works. Excellent attention to detail. Be passionate about increasing diversity and removing barriers to employment. Build relationships quickly and enjoy working with lots of different parts of the business. Strong communication skills and comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to work collaboratively both upwards and at peer level with functional and business colleagues. Excellent written communication, copywriting ability and proof-reading skills. Excellent Microsoft Office Skills, and ability to use word, excel or powerpoint to share information with senior stakeholder. Demonstrates a proactive attitude with high levels of initiative. Hands on, pragmatic and delivery focused. Aligned to the C4 values and remit. DESIREABLE EXPERIENCE & SKILLS Have experience of overseeing content development funding. Have experience of working on schemes aimed at creative roles including new writers. Have completed an industry training scheme yourself. Have formal project management qualification or be working towards them, and experience of using these professionally. Experience of providing content for a website or social media feeds. HYBRID WORKING From September 2023, C4 has operated a 60/40 working pattern, equating to three office days per week.
