The Finance Manager position within the South East Regional Research Delivery Network offers a unique opportunity to support the delivery of health and care research across the South East through the oversight, accountability, and operational management of RRDN finances.

Main duties of the job
As Finance Manager, you will be the primary contact for finance teams in research Delivery Organisations across the South East. You will collaborate with these organisations, with support from the RRDN Operations Director, to ensure appropriate full cost recovery and provide advice on best practices.

Main duties of the role
As Finance Manager, you will oversee the financial procedures for disseminating and accounting for NIHR RDN funding within the RRDN, managing an annual budget of approximately £20M. You will work with the Host Organisation's finance team and the RRDN Operations Director to ensure full accountability and effective financial management.
This includes managing budgets, improving systems for funding applications, coordinating budgets, producing forecasts, and reporting expenditure to stakeholders such as the RDNCC, RDN Board, and DHSC. You will ensure transparency, compliance with SFIs, and oversee invoice processing and ETC payments, aligning with contractual requirements.
You will support the RRDN Directors and collaborate with the Data and Analytics team to ensure timely planning and reporting, including financial modelling and demonstrating impact through Value for Money analyses.
The role involves operational management of the finance function, line management of the Finance Officer, staff reviews, performance management, and travel to regional and national offices as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Working towards a full CCAB/CIMA accountancy qualification with relevant experience
* Registered for CPD with an accountancy institute
* Fully qualified CCAB/CIMA Accountant
Knowledge
* Extensive specialist accountancy, financial, and performance management experience in a large organisation
* Experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and strategic financial planning across multidisciplinary services
* Knowledge of NHS accounting principles and procedures
* Proficiency in managing multiple projects and deadlines
* Highly numerate with excellent IT skills, especially in Google Workspace, MS Office (Excel), and financial systems
* Experience in health and care research finance or NHS R&D finance

Salary: £48,270 to £54,931 per annum, including high cost area supplements (HCAS).
