The School of Biological Sciences and Institute for Global Food Security at Queen’s University Belfast is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Post-doctoral Research Assistant. The appointee will join the Huws group, focused on sustainable livestock production using the disciplines of Microbiology, Animal Science, and Bioinformatics. The successful candidate will primarily work within a multidisciplinary team undertaking research focused on sustainable ruminant production, with an emphasis on methane mitigation. About the person: The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria: Hold or is about to be awarded a PhD in a relevant area (bioinformatics, statistics, anaerobic microbiology).must be obtained within 3 months of commencement of employment. Have significant research experience to include: Experience of in-depth statistical analysis of multi-omic microbiome data Demonstrable computational experience relevant to microbiology. Experience of using programming skills in appropriate languages and software e.g. R. Have some experience of peer-reviewed publication in a relevant area of research, within World-leading journals. Have some experience of supervising undergraduates and/or postgraduate students. Have experience of presenting to the scientific community i.e. conference talks. Have experience of working in a team.
