The Client
Our client is a small charity dedicated to bringing play opportunities and support to families who need it the most by offering a variety of services for families with children under five in East London.
They believe that all children under five living in East London should share the same opportunities to grow, thrive, and reach their potential. Their mission is to provide play, learning, and support to socially excluded families in East London, to encourage childrens early years development, and to strengthen families and communities.
The Role
They are now looking for a looking for a new Co-Director of Strategy and Finance to work alongside the Co-Director of Operations to lead the charity when the current post holder retires in December.
Key Accountabilities
Ensure the charity is legally compliant, compliant with requirements of the Charity Commission and has the correct insurances in place for the charitys activities and that these are reviewed annually.
Ensure policies and guidelines are appropriate for the charitys work and reviewed regularly by the Trustees, including annual reviews of Childrens Safeguarding and Data Protection policies and the Risk Register.
Work with Trustees to ensure the charitys vision, mission and strategic plans are reviewed in conjunction with key stakeholders including staff, volunteers and families.
Take joint responsibility for achieving, monitoring and reporting on performance against targets in all areas of charitys activities taking action as required.
Ensure that income is maintained, expenditure controlled in line with budgets and potential risks are identified and managed.
Write annual budget for approval by Trustees.
Prepare contracts, apply for tenders, negotiate and agree contracts, Service Level Agreements and acknowledge receipt of funds as required.
Oversee expenditure and management accounts ensuring that income and expenditure is monitored and reported quarterly to Trustees.
Develop income generation strategies to maintain and enhance levels of funding from existing sources and develop new funding streams.
Work closely with and provide support to the Fundraising Officer on funding applications to ensure continuous and sufficient income.
Ensure HR policies, procedures and staff contracts are relevant and reviewed regularly and support and supervise Administration and Fundraising Officers.
Ensure charity is presented in an appropriate and professional manner to its stakeholders including website, social media, annual, impact and occasional reports.
The Candidate
Ideally be able to demonstrate previous experience of working within a similar role gained within the voluntary or community sector.
Working knowledge of compliance areas such as health and safety, risk management and safeguarding.
Experience of financial management and administration.
Ability to interrogate data and manage budgets effectively
Knowledge of working with computer programmes including, Office, Google Suite and Quick Books
Experience of developing policies and processes.
Ability to listen, communicate, motivate and inspire teams to work together collaboratively to achieve shared objectives.
Ability to initiate and maintain positive and productive relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.

The Terms
This is a part-time role working 28 hours per week
They are offering a salary of £40k FTE
The successful candidate will need to be able to attend their office in Hackney
