You will provide technical expertise in Environment Management across the region, giving specialist advice to support and enable the business to meet its compliance obligations, identify and manage risks, maximise opportunities and build capability in the line to deliver sustainable outcomes aligned to corporate environmental and sustainability policies & strategies.
As an Environment Specialist you will:
1. Co-ordinate environmental management processes by provision of advice and support to all stakeholders to maintain compliance across the Region.
2. Carry out assurance activities across the Region to evaluate the effectiveness of the Environmental Management System (EMS), assess compliance with legal and other requirements, and drive continuous improvement.
3. Co-ordinate the integration of Regional Environmental Management System (EMS) and promote sustainability at all levels of the organisation.
4. Follow up incidents and provide help and advice to interested parties to support the investigation and facilitate the implementation of corrective actions.
5. Assist in the delivery of environmental training packages to promote environmental awareness and compliance to applicable legislation.
Location can be anywhere within the Wales and Western region.
About the role (External)
Your Main Responsibilities will be to:
1. Provide expert support and guidance on all environmental matters to delivery legislative compliance.
2. Update and maintain environmental records and documentation to support the environment management system and emergency plans.
3. Provide the focus for liaison arrangements with environmental stakeholders.
4. Produce and undertake a programme of surveillance and inspection checks.
5. Monitor closeout of environmental non conformances.
You will ideally have:
1. Good understanding of UK and European environmental legislation and regulation.
2. Good understanding of environmental management system.
3. Knowledge of maintenance delivery process and techniques.
4. Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills.
What could set you apart:
1. Knowledge of operational railway environment.
2. Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard.
3. Membership of professional body.
