Environmental Sustainability Manager

What you'll be doing
* Support contracts with their sustainability management plans inclusive of the Balfour Beatty group strategy, customer standards and other contract requirements.
* Manage associated data capture and reporting including the internal sustainability portal and external platforms where required.
* Support the contract teams to ensure they are compliant with the BMS requirements.
* Develop the contract team’s knowledge and skills to understand the sustainability related contract requirements including understanding how their roles impact the overall ambitions.
* Provide ongoing expertise, support and coaching to the contract team and supply chain, to enable them to recognise risks and opportunities, to deliver, and where possible exceed targets.
* Identify suitable awards and opportunities to promote contract activities, including the production of case studies and relevant communications.
* Carry out site inspections and audits of highways depots and on projects across the Lincolnshire Highways network.
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will have:
* Ability to influence and promote a positive culture.
* Understanding of UK policy and regulatory frameworks.
* Ability to undertake contract planning, contract management and work to budgets.
* Understanding and practical experience of contract Sustainability risks and opportunities and how they practically impact on the ‘built environment’.
* Programme management experience with a structured approach to organising and documenting progress through KPI monitoring and performance reporting.
* Practical experience of Sustainability in a construction environment.
* Experience in identifying innovation and developing case studies to promote contract successes.
* Ability to articulate to and influence key stakeholders on how sustainability practically impacts on clients, suppliers, communities and stakeholders.
* Communication and relationship management skills are required.
* Experience in construction environment.
* Demonstrates commitment to continual learning to refine, further develop and apply expertise to add distinctive value to customers and Balfour Beatty.
* Experience of managing and analysing sustainability data.
* UK driving licence and a willingness to regularly travel across the Lincolnshire County.
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
* Additional relevant skills and qualifications in a technical area such as sustainability, engineering or construction.
* Stakeholder management experience.
