The Failsafe Officer will ensure that robust, high quality failsafe systems are in place for large and complex Antenatal and Newborn Screening (ANNB) programmes. The post holder will support the Screening Co-Ordinator in ensuring that the ANNB screening service is continuously developed and delivered in accordance with the Failsafe requirements outlined by the National Screening Committee to the population of pregnant birthing people and newborn babies.
Base location: St Mary's Maternity Hospital (move to Bournemouth in April 2025)

• To work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams to ensure eligible women are offered timely antenatal and newborn screening in line with national and local guidance.
• To oversee the input of information, including examinations, results and appointment to ensure they are accurately entered onto local and national databased via failsafe processes.
• To implement and carry out failsafe checks for the ANNB Screening Programmes under the supervision of the ANNB Screen Co-Ordinator.

There is a planned move for this service anticipated during April 2025, when thisrole and base of work will relocate to Bournemouth site. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder’s home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.
