Job summary
Due to significant demand on our Diagnostic Radiography services, UHB are currently recruiting Band 5 DR Radiographers.
We are looking to recruit qualified, HCPC registered radiographers with NHS experience, who may be looking for their first post qualification post or a new opportunity in their career with a trust who have one of the most enviable reputations for delivering radiographic services in the UK.
You will need to be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and will be expected to produce highly diagnostic imaging within our trust. We can promise that our induction programme will allow all new staff to be confident and competent working within our busy Imaging departments. We have a solid support network from our Clinical Lead Radiographers, Advanced Practitioners and Clinical Educator Radiographers who will teach and advise where they see fit, providing on going coaching and mentoring opportunities.
You will work within all areas of your chosen hospital site, including busy Emergency Departments, varied specialised theatre cases and will have the opportunity to complete X-rays on Europe's largest single floor ITU.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will be able to choose which of the sites within UHB they want to work at; Heartlands, Queen Elizabeth, or Solihull; and will work in all areas including, Inpatients, Outpatients, ED, Theatres and Fluoroscopy.
Within those areas you will:
Perform x-ray procedures in line with agreed competence
Clinically assess patients in order to decide the most appropriate radiographic projections to achieve a diagnostic result, consideration being given to age, fragility, ability to co-operate due to physical/mental condition.
Communicate clearly and openly with colleagues and patients clinical and organisational issues.
Advise patients, staff, and others on the preparation of a wide range of radiographic procedures in order to achieve compliance with written instructions.
Adopt a patient--centred approach to clinical practice
Ensure that during the course of work, adequate radiation protection is given to self, patients and other members of staff
Frequently manoeuvre x-ray equipment, both in the Radiology Department and mobile X-ray equipment around the wards and manipulate patients into the appropriate positions in order to achieve optimum radiographic projections.
The successful candidates will also need to ensure they are working in line with UHB Trust Values to ensure we are delivering the highest standards of clinical care to our patients.
