Are you passionate about the environment and committed to making a change? Do you find yourself wondering how to solve the current and future challenges for the water environment? Do you spend time thinking about how to leave a better world for future generations? So do we. This is why we need you to come and join us in making tangible changes to improve water quality in the rivers and seas across Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
As a Wastewater Environmental Investment Lead, you will develop long-term strategies and plans to secure the future investment that is needed for wastewater treatment. You will help ensure our wastewater services meet the needs of our current and future customers, are resilient in the face of a changing climate, and improve water quality in local rivers, estuaries, and the sea across our region.
You will work with the environmental regulators to determine the need for future investment, reviewing data on wastewater performance, commissioning and interrogating river water quality modelling. You will engage our engineering and technical teams to deliver detailed investigations and develop best value options so you can produce strong compelling regulatory business cases and plans for investment to manage environmental risks and enhance the water environment.
This role is about securing the regulatory approval and funding to make a difference. You will work on our Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan, support the development of the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP), and the regulatory Price Review process.
You should have a degree or qualification in a relevant subject area (engineering or science-based), but most importantly, you need to have technical expertise in wastewater treatment, a good understanding of the regulatory requirements and frameworks of the water industry, proficiency in engaging internal and external stakeholders, and experience in environmental planning.
You need to be a critical thinker, have excellent communication (oral and written) and analytical skills, hold a valid driver's licence, and have access to a car.
This role offers many opportunities to progress and grow within the company. Not only in the Wastewater Asset Strategy & Planning department, but as you build strong relationships with other departments, you may discover additional career growth opportunities with us.
