Ainscough Crane Hire are looking for an experienced Heavy Vehicle and Trailer Mechanic to join their successful engineering team within the Transport division.

Job Purpose/Objective:
To carry out, with the assistance of the Maintenance Supervisor and other mechanics, servicing, repairs and breakdown maintenance of Heavy vehicle, trailers, and plant to meet the company, manufacturer, legal, regulatory standards and service levels.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure duties are being carried out efficiently and accurately.
* Ensure preventative maintenance program standards are met.
* Properly maintain materials, tools and equipment.
* Assist in the securing and lockup of vehicles that are under workshop control.
* Assist in cleaning and keeping the mechanical workshops and surrounds tidy.
* Assists with programming the service schedule for all department fleet.
* Assists with maintaining daily records of vehicles, trailers and plant, labour and materials used.
* Assists with the planning and procurement of materials and consumables as required.
* Accurately maintain service records for each asset detailing all faults, repairs, service dates etc.
* Provide technical advice to ensure shortest possible downtime for assets.
* Maintain health and safety standards and adopt the company’s ‘Make the Safe Choice’ policy.
* Adopt and comply with the company’s 5S policy.
* Understand the company’s Integrated management policies and work to relevant policies, procedures and risk assessments.
* Schedule machine/vehicle time with the supervisor and operations department in order to carry out repairs and/or maintenance to equipment.
* Assist in securing necessary materials and parts for the work in good time, ordering from suppliers if necessary.
* Continually seek to improve the way in which the role operates within the business to achieve its objectives.
* Undertake other duties that management may reasonably request.
Person specification
Education/Knowledge/Experience
* Previous experience maintaining, diagnosing and repairing faults with Heavy vehicle, trailers and plant equipment.
Skills/Abilities
* Ability to diagnose common errors/faults with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues on HGV, trailers and light commercial vehicles.
* Ability to carry out repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults on HGVs, trailers and light commercial vehicles.
