About the role: The purpose of this role is to lead and inspire the Groundworks, Civil and Rail curriculum team to provide excellent teaching and learning, resulting in outstanding provision and outcomes for our students. The post holder will be accountable for the success of the Groundworks, Civil and Rail curriculum and will report to the Assistant Principal for Engineering. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the smooth running and operation of the Groundworks, Civil and Rail department including full time, apprenticeships, Boot camps, part time courses and any future T-levels. Success will be measured through the swift progress that learners make, high value-added scores from learners’ starting points, high grades at examinations, high-quality teaching and learning, student satisfaction surveys and high levels of progression to the next level of study, apprenticeships or purposeful full-time employment linked to their study. The role will include line-management responsibilities for the Groundworks, Civil and Rail curriculum team and associated support staff. The post holder will teach for around 12 hours a week Key Responsibilities: To assist in teaching staff and support staff to provide outstanding teaching and learning and secure excellent outcomes for students. To secure high value-added achievement for students by ensuring students make swift and sustained good progress from their starting points To teach for approx. 12 hours a week within the Groundworks, Civil and Rail team. To help lead improvements in the teaching practice of teachers. To be a role model across the curriculum area for outstanding teaching and learning To work with the Assistant Principal for Engineering and Head of Departments within the directorate, to ensure the college appropriately responds to national and local priorities. To adapt and develop Groundworks, Civil and Rail provision in line with the ASPIRE curriculum and to meet the needs of local communities, employers and D2N2 local enterprise partnership To support members of their team to develop and improve their professional practice To work with the Assistant Principal and Head of Departments to help ensure the curriculum area is efficiently run and delivers its financial contribution targets To work with the Assistant Principal and Head of Departments to help ensure that all Groundworks, Civil and Rail Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 courses within the department are run effectively and meet awarding body, funding and Ofsted expectations and requirements To work with the Assistant Principal and Head of Departments within the directorate, to help ensure that apprenticeships within the department are run effectively and meet awarding body, funding and Ofsted expectations and requirements To ensure that all students progress to the next level of study, apprenticeships or purposeful full time employment linked to their study Qualifications & Experience Recognised Teaching Qualification Degree level in relevant subject area (desirable) Level 3 subject qualification Level 2 English and Maths Enhanced DBS Application Process: If you are passionate about making a difference in students' lives and meet the requirements for this role, we encourage you to apply now VTS promotes equal rights and operates as an employment business under The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003.
