Links Recruitment are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity within a well established and growing company to join the the Transport and Logistics division. As the Head of Transport & Logistics, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating our transport operations across both internal teams and external partners. You will ensure that all activities are fully compliant with relevant legislation, health and safety standards, and best practices. Your leadership will be instrumental in maximising cost-efficiency, driving operational excellence, and contributing to the success of key capital development projects. By working closely with a dedicated team of drivers and planners, you will foster a culture of collaboration, high performance, and continuous improvement. Your duties will include: Responsible for the profit/loss of the metals transport business Manage resource to enable the department to deliver on KPI’s in a cost-effective manner and hit SLA targets. Develop logistics strategy by analysing logistical problems and producing new solutions. Support operations teams country-wide in all aspects of logistics including the selection and management of contractors and third party service providers. Ensure the fleet operates within transports legal and regulatory standards Provide clear direction, motivation, and leadership to the team by creating a positive and collaborative culture in line with our values. Monitor the quality, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods. Create and maintain a high-performing culture within the driver network. Analysing data to monitor performance and plan improvements. Responsible for managing the Driver trainers effectively to ensure all drivers are compliant and up to date with training. Liaising and negotiating with customers and suppliers. Deliver KPIs designed to enhance the supply chain processes and operational effectiveness. Skills: Proven experience in logistics management, with a deep understanding of best practice techniques. Extensive knowledge of transport compliance, legal requirements, and industry regulations. Commercially aware with an understanding of marketing and financial drivers impacting the transport sector. Hands-on experience with RoRo, skips, arctics, and trains. Comprehensive knowledge of road transport legislation. Must hold a valid Transport Management CPC qualification. Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 Hours: Full time 8.30am - 5.00pm Mon-Fri. 37.5hr week
