Job description
Summary:
1. The team comprises of professionals in all aspects of design, construction and project management. You will lead the team and projects ensuring the best standards of quality are met through rigorous cost and project controls.
2. You will provide effective leadership and line management of staff in validating the design as well as designing and/or procuring the designers for maintenance work packages and contracts in accordance with the public sector procurement practices, including provision of work instructions using engineering design standards and codes of practice. Where appropriate you will act a project manager on more complex schemes. During a construction project you will ensure regular project reviews are carried out (design reviews where applicable) with rigorous project controls are in place.
3. You will liaise with the internal teams to ensure the procurement and performance management of our internal and external works and services are of a high-quality, efficient, and customer focused. This entails overseeing projects delivery, coordinating resources, and ensuring strict compliance in the realms of highway design, commissioning, and meeting the objectives as set out at the outset. You will ensure that the risks (technical as well as commercial) are minimised and that the CDM Regs are adhered to at all stages from design handover to delivery on site.
About the role:
4. Extensive experience of working in a structures, highways and traffic engineering service in a management capacity.
5. Delivering a fully compliant structures, highways and traffic engineering service and allocation of resources.
6. Practical knowledge of the factors which affect the financial performance of a unit/section/project.
7. Leading, managing and developing a team
8. Practical knowledge of procuring services, managing agreements and contracts.
9. Expert knowledge of managing major projects as well as portfolio of projects whether new builds or existing assets. Recognised project management qualification is essential for this role.

14. The rate is dependent on candidate experience.
