About the position of Underwriter
An award-winning and fast-growing bridging finance company is looking for an experienced Underwriter to join their expanding team. Specialising in bridging and short-term lending, they have been recognised for outstanding service and shortlisted for multiple industry awards.
As they continue to grow, they are seeking a skilled Underwriter with experience in bridging, short-term lending, or property lending. Responsibilities for the role of Underwriter
* Assess and underwrite bridging loan applications within lending criteria and funding guidelines.
* Manage a high-volume case pipeline, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines while ensuring excellent customer service.
* Use commercial acumen to assess risks and propose appropriate mitigations, with support from senior leadership.
* Prepare high-quality Credit Papers with clear recommendations for loan approvals.
* Structure, price, and assess new enquiries, outlining key conditions for loan support.
* Oversee cases from enquiry to completion, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
* Prepare and review loan documentation for third-party stakeholders.
* Identify and mitigate risks, including fraud and money laundering.
* Build strong relationships with brokers, valuers, solicitors, and internal teams.
* Stay up to date with industry regulations and best practices.
* Maintain accurate records and update internal systems as required.
Experience and skills required for the role of Underwriter
* Underwriting experience in bridging, short-term lending, or property finance.
* Strong knowledge of compliance, including MCOB, CCA, and responsible lending.
* Understanding of fraud risks and preventative measures.
* Pragmatic underwriting approach, ideally within a specialist lender.
* Proactive, flexible, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks effectively.
* Commercially aware with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Adaptable to business needs with a hands-on approach.
