To become an Electrical Installation Technician in our Electrical Installation department, we need someone who is ambitious, motivated, and passionate about supporting learners in FE. The successful candidate will have the chance to acquire new skills and develop their abilities in a wide range of activities.
This position is based in our Worcester campus, and all applicants must be prepared to travel to our other campuses or surrounding areas as required.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
As someone who has recognised academic qualifications to at least City and Guilds level 2 or equivalent, you will support in many aspects. To name a few:
* Assisting lecturers and maintaining the day-to-day operations within the general and electrical installation workshops.
* Cleaning, servicing, repair and routine maintenance of relevant workshop equipment.
* Maintenance of safety equipment and procedures.

AIMS AND PURPOSES OF THE JOB: The post is to strengthen the Electrical Installation Technician team and supervise the day-to-day running of the Electrical Installation workshops.
SUPERVISING RESPONSIBILITY
Administration within the Electrical Installation Technician department is task-oriented and is widely shared amongst staff. Electrical Installation technicians are responsible to the CRQ Leader for Electrical Installation who is their Line Manager.
KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Assisting and maintaining the day-to-day operations within the general and Electrical Installation workshops.
* Cleaning, servicing, repair and routine maintenance of relevant workshop and equipment.
* Maintenance of safety equipment and procedures.
* Assisting teaching staff by, in particular, the design and manufacture of teaching aids and demonstration techniques, as required.
* Assisting in tasks relating to the running of the relevant Departmental workshops including the monitoring of stock levels and re-ordering of materials.
* The supervision of training as required.
* Setting up (and safe return) of workshop equipment to support investigations, demonstrations, tests, examinations and practical work.
* Assisting with students’ projects.
* Preparation and transportation of instruments, materials, tools and equipment.
* The organisation and maintenance of documentation and records of work commensurate with the above.
* To assist other technicians regarding routine maintenance duties relevant to trade experience.
* To comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Regulations.
* Attend parents’ evenings, open days and other functions.
* Relevant duties in connection with the safe maintenance of college buildings and installations.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* To commit to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
