We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physiotherapist to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in delivering physiotherapy services for our performance athletes.
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a talented team, collaborate with interdisciplinary experts, and support athletes as they transition from pre-elite to elite levels.
About the role
As the Lead Physiotherapist, you will provide high-quality physiotherapy services that optimise recovery, enhance performance, and foster athlete well-being. You will take a leadership role in managing and mentoring a team of physiotherapists, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across our Student Performance Sport programmes. You will work proactively with interdisciplinary teams, sports coaches, and performance staff to ensure holistic athlete support and aligned service delivery.
This role will require you to contribute strategically to the development of physiotherapy services, lead the implementation of evidence-based rehabilitation strategies, and drive a data-led approach to athlete care. You will also play a key role in education and knowledge sharing, delivering workshops and practical sessions that empower athletes and coaches with performance and injury-prevention strategies.
About you
We’re looking for a passionate, motivated, and experienced individual who thrives in a high-performance environment. The ideal candidate will:
* have a degree (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy and be a registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and HCPC.
* have significant previous experience in Sports Physiotherapy, particularly with performance athletes.
* demonstrate strong leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring staff, leading interdisciplinary collaboration, and driving service excellence.
* be proactive, strategic, and solutions-focused, with the ability to innovate and adapt in a dynamic environment.
* provide high levels of support and challenge, ensuring that both athletes and staff strive for continuous improvement.
* be open-minded and committed, fostering an inclusive, forward-thinking approach to physiotherapy and athlete development.
* possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to educate and inspire athletes, coaches, and colleagues.
* hold a current First Aid or Basic Life Support qualification and a Sports Trauma/Pitch-side Qualification (ACPSEM recognised).
* be committed to continuous professional development, leading CPD initiatives within the physiotherapy team and across the Student Performance Sport team.
Further information
This is a full-time role working 36.5 hours per week; however, flexible working hours are required to align with athlete training schedules which may include early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends. Annual leave is to be taken in line with university semester breaks.
A enhanced DBS check is required for this position.
