Our Youth Development Scheme is for individuals aged 16-21 interested in pursuing careers in the medical and health fields.
The program will offer a transformative experience by focusing on skill-building, employability, social action, and community integration. By empowering young people, the scheme will create future leaders who are well-prepared for careers in healthcare while fostering stronger, more connected communities.
Program Objectives
1. Develop Life Skills: Equip participants with essential life skills such as communication, teamwork, and decision-making to enhance confidence and leadership capabilities.
2. Enhance Employability: Offer targeted activities to develop employability skills, including CV writing, interview techniques, and workplace readiness tailored to the medical and health sectors.
3. Engage in Social Action: Provide volunteering opportunities in healthcare settings and community projects to foster a sense of responsibility and civic engagement.
4. Promote Diversity and Inclusion: Encourage young people from diverse backgrounds to collaborate, learn from each other, and serve their communities.
5. Strengthen Communities: Create meaningful connections between participants and local communities to build trust, integration, and resilience.
6. Empower Positive Change: Inspire participants to make tangible differences in their communities through healthcare-focused projects and initiatives.
Main Duties of the Job
As a Unit Youth Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the adult volunteers within your youth unit to ensure the delivery and provision of a quality, fun, and engaging youth programme in a safe and inclusive environment. You will also be expected to assist in the delivery of the programme.
Skills Needed
Experience Essential:
A willingness to engage and support young people to learn life skills, including First Aid in a fun, interactive manner.
A commitment to the health and safety, wellbeing, safeguarding, and inclusion of all young people.
A commitment to supporting our young people to become future leaders.
Able to work effectively as part of a team and to communicate well with other adults and young people.
Able to lead others and to delegate and coordinate tasks fairly within a team.
Has some experience working with young people or in a youth organisation.
Willing to supervise young people on events / undertake required training to do so.
