We're looking for an Environmental Advisor to join our Construction team based in Northern England and Scotland Region

Contract: Permanent – Full Time (Can offer Part Time Working also)
Responsibilities
The role would suit an enthusiastic individual looking to support the environmental aspects of our projects in the North & Scotland region to deliver sustainability outcomes for our key clients both during the preconstruction and construction phase.
You will support the delivery of Kier's Building for a Sustainable World framework on projects and maintain environmental compliance.
Within the role, you will also support internal operational teams and subcontractors in identifying, meeting and embedding environmental requirements, best practice and innovations into live projects. Delivering relevant training as may be required.
Delivering sustainability targets for our clients (BREEAM, LEED, WELL, Carbon, Waste etc).
This role is project based (with some flexibility available) and is ideal for someone with a good understanding of key sustainability principles as well as experience in the successful delivery of environmental assessments such as BREEAM and carbon targets.
Duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
* Support projects in pre-construction to ensure all required documentation and support is in place for the successful delivery of the sustainability outcomes.
* Conduct environmental inspections and support environmental audits using Novade.
* Report and review environmental incidents and develop learning outcomes.
* Collate and prepare sustainability metrics to report progress against agreed project objectives and targets.
* Support the production of case studies / best practice to the wider team including bid teams to support tender responses.
* Chair meetings within the project team and supply chain to drive the sustainability agenda.
Who are we looking for?
Essential skills
* Passion for sustainability and a drive to reduce carbon emissions and improve resource efficiency
* Have experience working in an Environmental or similar role.
* Knowledge of construction sustainability schemes such as BREEAM / LEED / WELL
* Experience setting, measuring, monitoring and communicating environmental KPIs.
* Experience developing documents, procedures and forms that are consistent with the requirements of ISO 14001.
* Knowledge and experience of relevant environmental and planning legislation.
* Data analysis, reporting and critical thinking skills.
* Experience of liaising with cross discipline teams, clients and with external bodies and organisations.
* Ability to manage time and workload effectively on own and as part of the wider environment team
* Desire to learn and continuously develop, with an ability to challenge established processes and policies, identifying more effective solutions.
* Demonstrable experience of promoting a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture,
* Working knowledge of environmental management systems.
* UK Driving licence
* Hold Security Clearance (BPSS and SC) or able to apply for it
* Willingness to travel to sites regularly
Desirable skills
* Preferably a degree in an environmental or scientific discipline.
* Internal ISO 14001 auditor experience would be advantageous.
* Graduate/Associate IEMA membership or equivalent.
