About the Role:
An outstanding special educational needs (SEN) school in Liverpool is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, ongoing basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children with a range of additional needs in a warm, supportive school environment.
The school caters to pupils with cognition and learning difficulties, physical disabilities, autism, and complex health needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide individualised support for pupils, both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of SEN needs
* Assist in preparing and adapting resources and learning materials
* Support teachers in delivering lessons and managing the classroom
* Help with classroom displays and creating an inclusive, engaging environment
* Foster positive, supportive relationships with pupils and staff
* Support personal care and well-being routines when required
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
* Have experience or a strong interest in supporting children with SEN
* Be flexible, patient, and proactive in their approach
* Demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills
* Be nurturing, empathetic, and understanding of individual pupil needs
* Have experience or training in PECS, Makaton, and working with children with ASD, SLD, and non-verbal communication needs
* Hold a Level 1 safeguarding certificate
Requirements:
* Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
* PECS and Makaton training/experience (desirable)
* Experience working with ASD, SLD, and complex needs
* Level 1 safeguarding certificate
* Recent school-based references
* Valid photo ID (Driving Licence or Passport)
* Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one)
