Manufacturing Engineer - Technology

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our engaging team in Derby as a Manufacturing Engineer – Technology.
You will be delivering manufacturing technology and/or capability acquisition projects. Working with Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leaders (MECLs) or the equivalent, and Manufacturing Process Owners (MPOs) to ensure that technology solutions are aligned to existing strategies.

What you will be doing:
1. Ensure that manufacturing processes are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme.
2. Product Safety - Ensure that manufacturing processes are capable of achieving and sustaining the design definition and responsible for mitigating against process deviation.
3. Operate a culture of zero defects within the organisation. Works with all functions to reduce risk and drive product Right First Time.
4. Identify and develop opportunities for improvements and innovations in manufacturing capability.
5. Plan and manage activities including schedule, resources and costs, ensuring issues and risks are resolved to meet project timescales.
6. Support the development of technology roadmaps and process strategies.
7. Create, Maintain and/or Govern elements of the Technical Package which clearly define the manufacturing process.
8. Lead small IPTs and/or work closely with external bodies to deliver projects.
9. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing - Work with interfacing teams and local experts to ensure technical aspects are understood.
10. Responsible for self-development to meet the required competencies for the role.
11. Build external relationships with partners and suppliers to enable delivery of objectives.
12. Support business capital projects to support capacity and infrastructure improvements.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for a self-motivated, experienced Manufacturing engineer with a strong work ethic. The candidate should strive for the highest quality and standardisation and be able to analyse manufacturing and process data. A strategic, forward-thinking individual is sought that will embrace challenges.
1. Professionally qualified Engineer (UK minimum BEng degree or other national equivalent).
2. UK CEng (Chartered Engineer) or other national equivalent relevant to specialist subject area.
3. Typically a member of relevant professional body/institute at Fellow level (or equivalent).
4. General machining experience and proven ability to influence key decisions.
5. A good understanding of a range of inspection methods and experience assessing manufacturing processes.
6. Understanding of Intellectual Property and Export Control requirements.
