Senior Estimator – Civil Engineering Location: Scotland (Projects across Energy, Water & Infrastructure Sectors) Our client is a long-established and highly respected specialist contractor delivering remedial and maintenance works across complex assets throughout the UK. With over 70 years of experience in engineering-led solutions, they support clients in energy, utilities, and infrastructure by preserving and extending the life of vital assets. Role Overview: They are seeking a Senior Estimator with a solid civil engineering background to join their commercial team. You’ll be involved in a variety of challenging and rewarding projects across Scotland, focusing on structural maintenance and refurbishment of existing assets. This role is ideal for an experienced estimator who thrives on technical complexity and has a proven track record in civil projects — particularly involving temporary works, scaffolding, drainage, groundworks, and access solutions. Key Responsibilities: Prepare accurate cost estimates and pricing submissions for asset maintenance and civil engineering projects. Interpret engineering drawings, specs, and site requirements to build estimates from first principles. Work closely with engineers and project managers to align technical solutions with commercial strategy. Conduct site visits and technical assessments to scope out access, ground conditions, and logistical challenges. Procure subcontractor and supplier packages to support robust and competitive tenders. Contribute to value engineering ideas and risk assessments during the estimating phase. Support project handovers to the operations team with full commercial clarity. Develop and maintain internal pricing libraries, tender registers, and cost databases. Ideal Candidate: Civil engineering background with strong technical understanding of infrastructure projects. Proven experience estimating for civils-based works (essential). Familiarity with temporary works, scaffolds, drainage, groundworks, and access planning. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to develop clear, comprehensive pricing models. Strong commercial and contractual awareness. Confident communicator and collaborator across site and office-based teams. Proficient in relevant estimating software and MS Excel. Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
