Service Engineer from a systems integration background with PLC/SCADA software skills now sought for a leading West Midlands business as they continue to expand their service offering.
The Service Engineer will join an established team offering a range of automation skills to clients across a range of sectors including Aerospace Marine, Automotive, FMCG, Paper/Pulp and Aggregates.

Service Engineers Systems Integration - The Role:
* Reactive site support on customer automation control applications to include PLC, VSDs, Robots network and SCADA systems
* 24/7 reactive call-out support (rostered cover, additional payments made)
* Workshop testing of engineered automation Control Systems
* Investigation and repair of components to include PLC, VSDs, Robots network and SCADA systems
* Accurate marking-up of project schematics and documentation
* Assist with the development and delivery of bespoke training courses to meet the customer’s requirements
* Assist other Engineers with on-site commissioning and service of engineered automation Control Systems
* Assist sales with technical support, site audits and quotations
Service Engineers Systems Integration - The Person:
* Knowledge/experience of the following is essential:
o PLC software fault find & modification experience for one or more system such as Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Omron or Schneider - ideally modern & legacy systems
o SCADA software fault find & modification experience for multiple platforms i.e. Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider
o Robot or Drives experience would be an advantage
* Capable of reading electrical schematic diagrams and PLC software listings
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with customers, other contractors and other commissioning engineers with regard to problems, progress and targets
* Flexibility to travel and stay away from home - on average 2-3 nights per week. Some weeks there will be no requirement for staying away, others it may be longer, all project depending
* A great team player with the ability to work off own initiative
Projects are currently UK based, however there may be requirements for overseas travel from time to time. There are also options to assist the Commissioning team. They are also taking more involvement with the Marine sector, a mix of offshore and land-based projects, therefore you need to be flexible for and able to complete occasional offshore work.
The Service team are responsible for providing reactive & preventative service for a range of machinery clients, alongside completing smaller automation projects.
Ideally, you will be based close to the M5/M6 corridor. Locations could include within or around South Manchester, Chester, Wigan, Telford, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Coventry or Worcester.
If you are local to the Shropshire office, you will be based there assisting with projects and panel testing. If further away, you will be classed as home based, travelling to head office roughly once a fortnight with all expenses covered. When based at home you will work on small projects and training material.
You will also be placed on a 1 in 4 call-out rota for which additional payments are made.
All travel is covered. Overtime is paid for all hours worked over standard 40 hour week. A company van is provided or car allowance providing the vehicle is fit for purpose.
