Job overview
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and aspiring candidates to join our dynamic and friendly service based in the Musculoskeletal outpatients department (SLH) to gain valuable experience working in a Hospital Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to develop their skills in rehabilitation of conditions including trauma, fracture, osteoarthritis, general deconditioning and both pre and post-surgery. You will be working with an MSK population (predominantly upper limb and spinal) and engaging them in exercise therapy.
You will be responsible for your own caseload under the direction of a qualified staff member.
You will take referrals from qualified staff to progress rehabilitation. Patients are seen individually and in groups according to need.
There may be an opportunity to deliver rehabilitation within the department’s hydrotherapy pool subject to additional training as required. There will also be a requirement to cover poolside duties as needed.
You will be supported in this role by weekly clinical supervision, in-service training and through the appraisal process.

Person specification
Experience
* Proven experience of leading progressive exercise regimes in either a clinical (hospital or GP practice) or gym setting
* Proven experience of leading exercise groups
* Evidence to demonstrate own learning and to support experience
* Experience of data collection for audit as directed by qualified therapists
Knowledge
* Understanding of anatomy
* Understanding of injury and pathology affecting musculoskeletal tissues
* Understanding of principles of progressive exercise therapy
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Exercise and Sport or equivalent in relevant field
Other requirements
* Full driving license and access to a car (reasonable adjustments will be considered)
Skills
* IT and numeracy skills
