Job summary (Please note this vacancy is only open to applicants with appropriate NHS experience) This post is a part-teaching/part-clinical role, within the department of Paediatrics, with its main focus being on the delivery and development of the undergraduate curriculum in Child Health. It would suit someone who aims to pursue a career in Paediatrics and/or has a keen interest in medical education and would like to enhance their teaching skills and experience. The successful candidate will be involved in coordinating and providing the undergraduate clinical teaching programme (50% annually) and will undertake 50% clinical duties and professional development annually. This includes developing educational sessions (including simulation), timetable planning, bedside and clinical teaching, and the organization and running of the assessment process for the undergraduate students (formal clinical encounters). Main duties of the job The main clinical duties are to support the Paediatric department (that covers neonatal, community, acute Paediatric emergencies and outpatient clinics). Specialist clinics and training can be arranged according to career interests. Clinical research is an important aspect of daily practice in this unit, and so opportunities will be available to complete 'Good Clinical Practice' training to support the participation in recruitment to Trust Clinical Research Trials. Ideally the person will have completed Foundation Training (or equivalent) and have some postgraduate Paediatric experience. The post is advertised for a doctor who would function at Tier 1 level, (SHO grade/Junior Clinical Teaching Fellow). The post holder will be supervised by Dr. Mannikar, Consultant Paediatrics, who has a significant role in undergraduate medical education and departmental education.
