About The Role: Shift Pattern: 4 nights on, 4 nights off (19:00 - 07:00) Role Summary: As a Night Shift Security Officer at Southgate Bath Shopping Centre, your primary responsibility is asset protection, ensuring the safety and security of the shopping centre, underground car park (700 spaces), and service yards during the night-time economy. While customer interaction is minimal at night, you will play a key role in: Protecting assets and preventing unauthorized access. Ensuring the safety of individuals passing through the shopping mall, while ensuring they do not disturb residents after unsocial hours. Helping vulnerable individuals when required. Monitoring and securing high-risk areas. Key responsibilities of this role will include: C onduct regular patrols of the mall, outdoor areas, underground car park, and service yards. Ensure all entry points, fire exits, and restricted areas are secure overnight M onitor and deter unauthorized access and suspicious activity. Help vulnerable people, such as those in distress or in need of support. De-escalate situations and engage with external authorities (e.g., police) when necessary. Conduct fire alarm checks and ensure emergency exits are unobstructed. Assist with emergency procedures, including first aid when necessary. Respond to security incidents, including antisocial behaviour, property damage, and fire alarms. Maintain communication with the CCTV Controller and your Security Officer colleague via radio. R espond to CCTV alerts and work closely with the CCTV Controller to track potential threats. Assist in securing retail units and protecting high-value assets after business hours Document incidents, maintenance issues, and security concerns in the daily log. Monitor individuals passing through the shopping mall, ensuring they do not disturb residents after unsocial hours. The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria: You must have the right to work in the UK Experience of working within the Security Industry is an advantage SIA licence is essential Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to work in a high-footfall outdoor environment. Excellent time management and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
