About the Opportunity
We are looking for an Accountant to join the Group Finance Team and play a crucial role in the financial accounting and reporting processes. You will be assisting with the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as well as budget forecasting. The role will also be involved in ad hoc Group Finance projects. The role can be based anywhere in the North West, and will involve some days in our office in Bamber Bridge, Preston.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the production of the monthly Group consolidated accounts.
* Review and challenge of management accounts.
* Monthly reconciliation and review of balance sheet accounts.
* Support the various external and internal audits.
* Assist in the production of annual reports and accounts.
* KPI reporting providing insightful analysis.
* Assisting in the consolidation and production of budgets and forecasts.
* Providing technical guidance to Group Companies.
* Support the Chief Accountant in identifying and implementing process efficiencies and improvements to drive a faster month end close process.
* Providing system support on Group Consolidation package (Cognos) to Group Companies.
* Support Cognos improvements and upgrades projects.
* Support remediation of identified internal controls gaps.
* Contribute to updates of the accounting policies and procedures.
* Any other reasonable duties as required.
About the Candidate
* Continuous improvement mindset.
* Professional qualification in accounting (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).
* Proven track record of improving and streamlining processes and policies.
* Previous experience within a group accounting team is preferable, but not a must.
* Cognos experience preferable.
* Strong technical accounting background (IFRS).
* Be highly numerate and analytical.
* Confident and effective communicator with the ability to build rapport and work with people at all levels.
* Effective organisational ability and time management skills are crucial, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
* Ability to constructively challenge and analyse results.
