This position focuses on providing a comprehensive traffic regulation order service and offering support and guidance to enhance community resilience and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the central point for all Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), including creation and record maintenance.
Lead scheme designs for traffic management measures, from concept to delivery.
Prepare and implement TROs, such as Waiting Restrictions and Speed Limits, in accordance with local regulations.
Support the development of highway policies and strategies, ensuring stakeholder involvement and adherence to approval processes.
Engage with key partners like District Councils, the Department for Transport, and community groups to align objectives and achieve project goals.
Collaborate with local members and communities to ensure policies and TROs meet local needs.
Maintain an understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles in all project activities.
Job Requirements:
Educated to GCSE level in Maths, English, and Science.
HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with incorporated engineer status.
In-depth knowledge of traffic management, highway design, and relevant legislation (e.g., Traffic Signs Regulations, Highways Act, Road Traffic Act).
Proficient in AutoCAD and common IT systems.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to keep stakeholders informed and manage relationships.
Experience in budget control and project management within a traffic management context.
Understanding of climate change and strategies for achieving net zero.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Experience in local government, particularly in traffic management and policy preparation.
Effective report writing and presentation skills.
Ability to organise and motivate project teams on complex tasks.
