Job overview
We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive therapists to join our combined Older Peoples Assessment and Liaison (OPAL) and Integrated Assessment Team (IAT) at Wythenshawe Hospital. We welcome both Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working at, or progressing towards, band 6 level to apply for our static, full-time positions (2 WTE posts available).
Our OPAL/IAT therapy service aims to deliver high-quality care to our patients across the Emergency Department, Clinical Decisions Unit, and our Acute Frailty and Acute Medical Units. We are expanding our Frailty SDEC services and working closely with our community colleagues across the hospital at home and urgent response services, aiming to improve outcomes for our older population through proactive early assessment and management of complex co-morbidities.
Main duties of the job
1. Deliver a comprehensive therapy service to patients in the area of medicine, with particular knowledge and skills in the management of frailty.
2. Perform advanced therapeutic assessments of patients with diverse and complex presentations.
3. Organise and manage your own caseload to meet service needs and patient priorities.
4. Support, appraise, and educate more junior staff, rehabilitation assistants, and students.
5. Support team leaders and deputise as required.
6. Maintain excellent communication with patients, relatives, and team members.
7. Participate in a 7-day rota, inclusive of weekends and bank holidays.
8. Maintain professional standards of practice and codes of conduct.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy
* HCPC Registration
* Evidence of relevant post-registration training / CPD
* Clinical educator
* Member of CSP/RSCOT
Experience
* Relevant significant post-registration experience as an independent generic therapy practitioner.
* Experience in supervision and education of less experienced staff.
* Experience of working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience working within frailty or with older people.
Knowledge
* Understanding of clinical governance and its implications for practice.
* Well-developed contemporary theoretical underpinning knowledge of Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy.
* Knowledge of current health policy and relevance to healthcare delivery.
Personal Qualities
* Able to work as a team member.
* Flexible attitude to change and new ways of working.
Skills and Abilities
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to organise and prioritise a complex caseload.
