Housing Register Officer
Temp contract
£19.75 per hour (36 hours per week)
Ilford, East London
The purpose of this role is to complete assessments of applications to join the local authority housing register, including re-registration to keep applications up to date.
For those households who do not qualify to register, the Officer provides advice about alternative housing options.
For each application, the Officer completes medical assessments and notifies applicants on decisions.
This position is fundamental to the provision of allocations affecting vulnerable customers on the housing register and in temporary accommodation.
This role requires good knowledge of the law relating to the Housing Act 1996.
The post holder will be required to be innovative, dynamic and solutions focused. They will be required to use their experience to contribute to the ongoing development and design of the service and solutions for customers.
Interviewing applicants and completing home visits as part of the verification process, is required along with allocating temporary accommodation and private rented accommodation to prevent homelessness.
The Officer considers an applicant’s support needs and makes appropriate referrals for tenancy sustainment, floating support and prevention assistance.
