Job purpose: We are looking for an Avionics Test Engineer to work with us for an initial six-month contract (FTC) at our design and production site in Farnborough. Here you would be working in a small team developing the test procedures for the avionics sub-systems utilised on our high-altitude Zephyr aircraft. Responsibilities: Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and verify test processes and procedures. Perform hands-on testing of electronic and electro-mechanical avionics modules. Analyse test data and generate detailed test reports. Provide technical input to test readiness reviews & test review boards. Prepare Non-conformance reports as required. Collaborate with the design team to implement improvements leading to higher efficiency and test throughput. Ensure tests are performed to industry standards and employing best practice throughout. Contribute to continuous improvement of processes to increase safety and efficiency. Supervise and coach more junior members of the team as required. Requirements: Proven experience of electronics bench testing (digital and analogue). Strong background in testing methodologies including EMC and/or environmental testing. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with standards such as DO-160, Mil-Std 810, DEF-Stan 00-35 or similar. Be proactive, with the ability to work un-supervised. Other Useful skills and experience: Experience of working in the aerospace or other highly regulated sector. Knowledge of developing automatic test systems would be an advantage.
