Position: EICA Design Manager/Regional Discipline Lead
Location: Peterborough or Cambridge with hybrid working available
Salary Guide: £80-90k (Neg DOE), Car/Allowance, Bonus and excellent benefits package
Our Client: Is a Tier 1 design and build engineering contractor operating predominantly in the water industry, delivering a significant proportion of Anglian Water’s programme of clean and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.
The Role: Recruiting a Regional Discipline Lead for a new, modern, low carbon flagship wastewater project. You will report directly to the Engineering Director and provide technical leadership of the discipline in the region, ensuring the technical discipline is appropriately sized, has the correct competencies, and that standard design practices are applied. You will also provide development opportunities for all regional discipline members.
The Project: The Cambridge relocation project involves designing and building a modern, low carbon wastewater treatment plant to provide vital services for the community and environment, recycling water and nutrients, producing green energy, and helping Greater Cambridge grow sustainably.
Responsibilities:
1. People Management
2. Duty of care in discipline in region.
3. Training & Development Planning in discipline in region.
4. Staffing levels and personnel management in discipline in region.
5. Long term staffing/succession plans in discipline in region.
6. Staff performance reviews/PDRs in discipline.
7. Engineering Discipline Management
8. Application of strategic design philosophy in discipline in region.
9. Competency management in discipline in region.
10. Technical quality in discipline in region.
11. Task time requirements (estimates) in discipline in region.
12. Application of task delivery methods and toolsets in discipline.
13. Allocation of best-fit, competent staff to projects in region.
14. The use of common, secure, information management systems in discipline in region.
15. Operational Management
16. Contributing to definition and implementing technical strategy in discipline.
17. Contributing to discipline productivity.
18. Tactical technical risk in discipline in region.
19. Client relationships and service management in discipline in region.
Experience:
1. Deep understanding of technical discipline design.
2. Technically focused.
3. Technical design management.
4. BIM and digital delivery astute.
5. Experience of technical design in a design-build environment.
6. Experience in the water treatment industry (preferred).
7. Experience in leading and managing discipline design teams.
8. Degree in a discipline-related subject, or substantial experience.
9. Must be quality-driven with the ability to set targets, manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost and quality objectives.
10. Technical and design skills.
11. Able to identify and manage project technical risk.
12. Experience of leading remote/geographically-dispersed teams.
13. Chartered engineer.
