About the business unit
Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers both project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across the built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors.
APD delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health, and care management.
Overview of role
As Project Manager you will be responsible for collaboratively leading the day-to-day planning, prioritisation, progress, monitoring, and administration of the NEC ECC Contract on behalf of one of our Platinum clients.
A bit about the team
Our transportation portfolio is primarily a UK based business working in four key sectors of rail, highways, land and aviation. We deliver programme, project and commercial management services to clients in mainland Europe, Africa, Middle East, India and Australasia while supporting other parts of the transportation business across the globe.
What will the role offer
You will have opportunities to work on some of the UK’s largest Transportation projects, working with key clients and with experts from across Mott MacDonald and the industry. Some examples of the areas that you may work on
* Rail – We provide support to major rail infrastructure projects across the UK, including Crossrail, HS2, and Northern Powerhouse Rail.
* Highways – We work closely with National Highways supporting them on a variety of projects across the UK.
* Ports – Our ports team covers aviation and maritime projects with growth opportunities at key airports in the UK and beyond.
* Local Authority – We support a wide range of local authorities with their transportation projects, focusing on rail, highways, sustainability, and social value.
What you will contribute to the team
* Ability to have informed contract discussions on a daily basis.
* Independent working, within a construction environment, representing our Platinum client as well as Mott MacDonald's interests.
* Commercial knowledge and awareness of strategy, process and liabilities.
Candidate Specification
* Degree in a construction, engineering, or project management subject.
* Membership of the APM, CIOB or RICS.
* Broad experience, including in the public sector, would be an advantage.
* Significant experience in administering contracts, including use of NEC.
* Strong legal compliance through NEC contract.
Preferred, but not required:
* NEC Accreditation.
* Strong client and stakeholder relationship building skills.
* Effective communication with clients, project team and business manager.
* High degree of commercial acumen and knowledge of planning and project controls.
* Ability to create an enjoyable and fulfilling work environment.
* Ideally, Highways or Rail experience.
