Hertfordshire RECONNECT Service
RECONNECT aims to address the health inequalities experienced by those released from prison. Based across the whole of Hertfordshire, the service enables service users to access and sustain physical and mental health supportive interventions upon release from prison.
Phoenix Futures at Hertfordshire Reconnect have an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain experience working in psychosocial treatment for substance use. Previous experience is desirable, however not essential. Support Workers come from many diverse backgrounds and experiences, and you may have the skills required. We are seeking dedicated individuals, based on your values, willingness to learn new skills and the compassion to deliver the best service possible to the people that use our services.
The Role
As a Reconnect Worker, you will be supporting people across the whole of Hertfordshire, before and after their release from prison. As a Reconnect Worker, you will support people to reach their goals and change their lives for the better. The role is full time 37.5 hours per week. You will be part of a passionate and skilled team, contributing to the provision of tailored interventions and recovery approaches. It is hybrid working arrangements with you being based at home and meeting clients as and when required face to face such as probation offices, prisons and at local community links and organisations working with the Service.
FULL DRIVING LICENCE AND ACCESS TO YOUR OWN CAR IS ESSENTIAL.
About You
- Relevant experience of working in health and social care, ideally within the field of problematic substance use, mental health or another comparable field.
- Evidence of effective partnership working and the ability to network for the benefit of the client and service.
- Evidence of managing a busy caseload or tasks and excellent organisational skills.
- To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook and Word and be familiar with database management systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Understand complex issues presented by people entering custody/in the community/entering residential settings.
- Determined, with a drive to succeed and a willingness to learn.
- Passionate and enthusiastic about making a real difference to the lives of people we support.
Other organisations may call this role Recovery Worker, Recovery Co-ordinator, Criminal Justice Worker, or Substance Misuse Recovery Worker.

Interview Process
We want you to feel comfortable to be your best during the interview process, so that you can get to know Phoenix and we can get to know you. If shortlisted, you will be contacted for a short face to face / digital interview via Microsoft Teams and be provided all details about the assessment process. You will deliver a 10-minute presentation on "The Key Challenges Faced by Individuals when they first leave prison".
