Join the Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR) to protect and promote the interests of tenants and others who use social housing services, such as people who may be homeless and from Gypsy/Travellers. Scottish Ministers would like to appoint a new Chair and Member to the Board of the Scottish Housing Regulator. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in a national organisation, that regulates, to protect the interests of people who receive the services of social landlords. We value very highly the benefits of having different experience and points of view on our Board and we are keen that people from all walks of life apply. We welcome applications from women, disabled people, LGBT+ people, people from ethnic minority communities, Gypsy/Traveller families and people aged under 50. The Scottish Housing Regulator is the independent regulator of Registered Social Landlords and local authority housing services in Scotland. The Regulator has one statutory objective is to safeguard and promote the interests of:
* around 600,000 tenants who live in homes provided by social landlords;
* over 120,000 owners who received services from social landlords;
* around 40,000 people and their families who experience homelessness and seek help from local authorities;
* around 335 Gypsy/Travellers families who can use official sites provided by social landlords.
The Board is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring that it achieves its statutory objective and carries out its functions effectively and efficiently. Board Members are accountable to the Scottish Parliament.
