Head of Operations ***Fast-Growing FMCG SME***
Location: Based across two production facilities in Reading and Enfield (hybrid working, with four days per week on-site and one day working from home)
Salary: £75,000 to £100,000 Per annum (dependant on experience) + Benefits
Our client, a high growth FMCG SME is seeking an experienced Head of Operations to oversee the end-to-end operational functions of the business. This role will be responsible for managing key departments, including Production & Dispatch, Purchasing & Supply Chain, Customer Experience, and Product Development, ensuring seamless coordination and efficiency across teams.
This position is designed for a strategic and execution-focused leader who can align people, processes, and technology to drive operational excellence. The successful candidate will act as the Integrator, working alongside the Founder to execute the vision and scale the company effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee production and fulfilment operations.
* Design and implement business processes and systems to improve efficiency and productivity.
* Manage P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g. HACCP, Health & Safety).
* Oversee purchasing and inventory control.
* Manage customer experience and service delivery.
* Align operational processes with business growth objectives.
* Leverage technology and IT systems to optimise workflows.
* Build and develop a high-performing team to support growth.
* Collaborate with the Founder to translate strategic goals into actionable plans.
Key Requirements:
* Direct product production/manufacturing leadership experience gained within a food or beverage environment.
* Experience within a ecommerce/direct to consumer organisation would be highly beneficial.
* Broader supply chain and operational experience (NPD, Procurement, Logistics, Customer Operations etc).
* A track record of planning and implementing business processes and systems to increase efficiency, productivity and accountability.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to create and optimise operational processes.
* Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
* Experience in scaling operations within a fast-growing business.
* Tech-savvy with knowledge of automation tools and inventory management systems.
* Ability to mentor and lead teams while fostering a collaborative environment.
* Comfortable navigating change and ambiguity in a scale-up environment.
* Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach.
