We are the Defence Mental Health Services (DMHS) and we are searching for a professional, motivated Psychiatrist to join our encouraging and friendly team at Venning Barracks, Donnington.

This is a full-time position, offering 40 hours per week. Part-time hours may be available on a job share basis to meet business demands.

Main Duties of the Job
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for providing effective care, with an approach based on recovery and rehabilitation, to Service Personnel (SP) and entitled civilians, with timely access to skilled and effective assessment, treatment and occupational recommendations that meet the needs of the individual and the Chain of Command (CoC).
The team expects to receive on average 10 new referrals a week and will see urgent cases by the next working day and routine cases within 15 working days. The consultant psychiatrist is expected to carry a compact caseload of the most complex and unstable cases but will also be available at short notice to provide consultation and advice to other team members.
Job Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
* Providing high-quality, evidence-based interventions as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to provide a safe, effective, and professional mental health service to maximise the number of personnel fit for role.
* Maintaining responsibility for the patient during the process of care including referral to other regional services.
* Working collaboratively with the patient and include family members and significant others in the patient's treatment when appropriate.
* Liaising with the in-patient Consultant Psychiatrist at the Inpatient Service Provider (ISP) and attend ward rounds at the ISP as required.
* Using highly developed communication skills in working with people to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, qualifications and memberships detailed must be held in full, prior to submitting your application:
* Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
* Member or Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent based on a foundation medical degree.
* Must have obtained CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) and be on the Specialist Register.
