Commercial law firm in Leeds is seeking to recruit a Planning lawyer of 5 or more years’ PQE. The teams covers the full spectrum of Planning law matters and handles a range of complex mandates in the residential, commercial and infrastructure and environmental and waste sectors, as well as contentious work in Judicial Review and Lands Chamber proceedings. They undertake high quality work and regularly advise on some of the most high-profile developments in the UK. In recent times, instructions have included offshore wind farms; major residential schemes including garden villages and regeneration; new rail and road projects; airport developments; and waste and mineral projects. Due to growth in the team’s work (as well as the variety and complexity of the projects the team is working on), this role needs strong experience in planning, infrastructure and environmental law. The successful candidate will work on large scale development consent orders, compulsory acquisitions, giving strategic planning advice, reviewing environmental statements and assisting with project management As already suggested, the role offers an unrivalled opportunity to work on a wide range of premium level planning work outside of the City. Applicants will have knowledge of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and some knowledge of the Planning Act 2008 would be desirable. Experience of planning agreements and highway agreements is also important, as well as being able to handle inquiries/examinations and judicial reviews relating to planning matters. Experience of managing & supervising more junior members of the team would also be of interest.
