Description
The job itself
Following a support staff restructure and internal promotions, we have an exciting vacancy for a Senior Cover Supervisor to start in September 2024.
Cover Supervisors play a vital role supervising classes in the absence of subject teachers; you will need to be able to adapt and be flexible in your way of working as no two days are the same.
The Role
As the Senior Cover Supervisor you will not only cover lessons, but you will oversee the allocation of emergency cover; monitoring the absence line in the mornings and ensuring all lessons have appropriate supervision. This will involve inputting absences to the Management Information System and assigning other cover supervisors / external supply to any gaps.
Due to the nature of the role the working hours will involve
starting before the school day. You can start at 7.15am on site or choose to access the system from home from 6.45am. The finish time will reflect your start time with a total working week of 37 hours.
When you are not required to cover lessons yourself, you will support the Data Officer and HR Lead with longer term planning, so good organisational skills are essential.
We can offer You
You will have the opportunity to develop your classroom management practice alongside administration. This is a great role to see lots of different subjects and classroom dynamics as well as overseeing administration tasks.
Some of our Cover Supervisors have a long and successful career in this area, whilst some choose to step into teaching and specialise in one subject area. Whatever your own preference is, you will have access to a host of CPD and training opportunities both internal and external with the option to take on additional responsibilities.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
1. Experience in classroom management
2. Good supervisory skills
3. Ability to follow procedures
4. Organisational skills
