Job Description Learning Mentor Overview As a learning mentor, you will work with students who have been excluded from mainstream education, providing support, guidance, and encouragement to help them re-engage with learning and achieve their potential. You will play a crucial role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for students who may be facing various challenges. Responsibilities Build positive and trusting relationships with students who have been excluded from mainstream education Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to help students overcome barriers to learning Develop and implement individual learning plans to address the specific needs of each student Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to supporting students Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes self-esteem and positive behaviour Monitor and track student progress, and provide regular feedback to relevant stakeholders Offer guidance and emotional support to help students develop resilience and self-confidence Requirements Experience working with students who have been excluded from mainstream education Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies to support students with challenging behaviour Understanding of the impact of exclusion on young people and the ability to provide empathetic support Patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach to working with students facing difficult circumstances Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, or a related field Hours & Pay This is a temporary to permanent role – you will begin on a temporary basis for the first 12 academic weeks, with permanent contracts available once this temp period has been completed. There is a highly competitive rate of pay which is £425-475 a week for working hours of 8.30am-3.30pm.
