As a Programme Manager for the Enabling & Earthworks package within the Sizewell C Project, you will lead the oversight and execution of a critical phase in the development of one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects. This role demands a strong operational leader capable of delivering the civil engineering requirements for the Enabling & Earthworks phase, including early civil work scope, ground improvement, dewatering, and other essential site preparation tasks.
This role is ideal for a proactive individual with extensive experience in managing complex engineering projects within highly regulated environments, who thrives on the unique challenges and rewards of the nuclear sector.
Principal Accountabilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
* Strategic Project Leadership : Act as the Intelligent Client, overseeing and managing scope, schedule, budget, and costs of the Delivery Team, ensuring alignment with Sizewell C project milestones.
* Programme Management : Develop and manage project schedules and estimates, focusing on best practices and learning from past projects to optimise delivery and performance.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration : Coordinate closely with Civil Works, Site Delivery, MEH Alliance, and other Sizewell C programmes to ensure seamless integration of Enabling & Earthworks with the overall project.
* Safety and Compliance : Lead efforts in regulatory compliance and uphold nuclear safety standards, overseeing CDM execution plans and Principal Designer duties for the Enabling & Earthworks package.
* Stakeholder Engagement : Build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including government entities, financial investors, regulators, and local communities.
* Risk Management : Oversee the management and mitigation of client-held risks within the Enabling & Earthworks scope, including supporting the Delivery Team’s risk management processes.
About You
You’ll bring a strong track record in delivering projects within complex, dynamic environments, ensuring safety, security, and environmental responsibility at all times. Ideally, you will have experience within the nuclear energy sector or another highly regulated field, along with demonstrated success in managing and executing multi-disciplinary projects.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential Skills & Experience :
* Proven experience in project management, financial management, and risk mitigation, with proficiency in estimating, scheduling, and programming tools.
* Expertise in leading large-scale construction projects with a strong focus on managing contractors, consultants, and other advisors.
* Solid understanding of CDM regulations and a commitment to promoting nuclear safety culture.
Desirable Skills :
* Experience working within an alliance or joint venture framework.
* Background in nuclear project quality control and a knowledge of graded quality approaches.
* Working knowledge of the French language is beneficial but not required.
Qualifications :
* Senior-level experience within the construction industry, particularly within regulated environments.
* Desirable qualifications include a degree and chartered status in engineering, construction, physics, or related field.
