Temporary full time Disability Advisor role at a prestigious London University, supporting students with disabilities, until 10th January 2025. 35 hours per week, hybrid working model.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage caseload, provide support and advice, assist students with complex needs, identify individualised support packages, including reasonable adjustments.
* Support with day-to-day administration, including dyslexia screening and Disabled Students' Allowance applications.
* Work with students daily, signpost/referee them to external services, maintain accurate student records.
* Facilitate adaptations and support, including non-medical support coordination.
* Respond to student enquiries in a timely manner.
* Support system development and specialist disability funding.
* Identify and report Safeguarding concerns, and report risk to self to the Mental Health Advisory or Counselling Services.
* Participate in workshops, activities, resources and the Wellness Review.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in a similar role in higher education or disability advice environment.
* Experience handling enquiries, prioritising and problem solving.
* Strong relationship-building skills, confidence in liaising with stakeholders.
* Empathetic understanding of disability challenges.
* Commitment to EDI practices.
* Ability to manage professional boundaries.
* Advocacy skills for those with disabilities.
* Safeguarding knowledge.
* Knowledge of GDPR and data protection procedures.
* Excellent organisational and IT skills, including Microsoft Office usage.
